Chanelar Flamenco-overview
Chanelar is a kaló word -Kaló is the language of the Spanish gypsies- derived from the Sanscrit Jñana, that means: to know, to understand.
The Chanelar Flamenco Project is a program of Dances of the World Society dedicated to Flamenco that pursues two main objectives:
- Preserving Flamenco as a Culture and an Oral Tradition by documenting it in its natural environment
- Preserving aspects of Flamenco as a Perfoming Art that are in danger of extinction by producing and presenting shows that honor these aspects of Flamenco
